I have a small domain with 2 Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controllers. 4-5 days ago I added a Windows Server 2019 Essentials box as a 3rd domain controller (intent is to slowly/carefully move to eventually having just 2 Windows Server 2019 domain controllers - retiring the old 2008 machines).
Everything has been working fine and the 2019 has handled authentication requests fine etc.
My 2008 boxes have a group policy set that sets the users desktop wallpaper using a JPEG on a domain file server when they log in. Has worked fine for years.
All of a sudden, today it stopped working. I went into gpedit.msc on both of my 2008 DCs and the Desktop Wallpaper group policy setting is now Not Configured.
Is there something that the Server 2019 box could/would have done that would have done that? I added it back and so far it is working fine. Is the 2019 DC trying to "take over" or something? Obviously, I'm a novice so use small words when answering.
