Ubuntu "yes" command with pipes, what does it do?

I nearly got my answer, please see my comment for a small followup.

I was trying to build my own kerrnel version and in the guide I saw:

yes '' | make oldconfig  

now I read about what yes '' does (outputting \0 until process is killed), and I know what pipes are. my question is:

I tried to re-run it likes this:

make oldconfig  

and got:

BT8XX GPIO abuser (GPIO_BT8XX) [N/m/y/?] (NEW)   

the question is, is yes '' equal to N or m or y option here or enter, in case it's enter then what will happen?
