SQL Oracle Comment and comment line show error when I have them beneath eachother

This the code that I have.

   /* Part C */    -- Table Author Details;  

Below is the error message that shows.

-- Table Author Details;                     *  Error at line 5:  ORA-00900: invalid SQL statement   

If I remove the /* Part C */ it works, and if I remove the -- Table Author Details; it works. I just can't have one below the other.

Why does this happen?
