Word Press Post Date as a Custom Historical Date

Here's my goal.

When creating a post, I want the option to enter a date for that post, instead of WordPress assigning the current date. For example, if I make a post about the Titanic sinking, I want to be able to date it, 4/15/1912, instead of the date I create the post.

I already have my Blog page set to show only things that happened on the current month and day. This way, it will only show events that happened on the current day in history. But right now, since I can't change the post dates to match the historical dates, it's just showing posts based on when they were created.

Any ideas? Thank you!
