Remove "Avalanche operations" in hash functions?

We are using hash functions (e.g., murmurhash3) for efficiently checking modifications of data. When implementing the murmurhash3, we noticed that it has additional operations at the end for Avalanche effect. Can we remove these operations for higher speed while maintaining the collision resistance?
