Reading and Manipulating an Excel File with Python

So I have a data set of server components and they all have descriptions that are in one cell. I would like to write something that can sort through the description and pick out specific details and put them in new columns. Any and all help is appreciated. I know I need to set up some type of keyword but do not know how to have it read through the description and pick out the keywords then translate them to new cells.

Example: For memory there is size, speed, rank, and if it PC4 or PC3.
