How do I change domain on heroku and point to namecheap

I have added a domain name to my Heroku account and have gotten the DNS target which I'm supposed to link to Namecheap my DNS provider, I have created a CNAME record and linked the DNS target to it. after waiting for some hours, I tried accessing my domain but got a Bad Request (400). What could have gone wrong. Please I need help with this. Thanks
