How to rename a file by adding 1 to the end of the file name?

So, here is my filename prd-connector2. Let's say it's in the /var/proj directory. File do not have extension and consists of data as shown below:

{ "name": "prd-connector2",

} How can I first rename the file name - by increasing +1 at the end, to make it a prd-connector3? Also, how to change the value of the "name" field to match the current filename? Any suggestions.
