gdalwarp gives me all nodata points

I'm trying to use gdalwarp to reproject my WGS84 (EPSG:4326) SRTM hgt files to a mercator projection (EPSG:3395) but when I read the output file that gdapwarp gives me, I get the following:

This is the command I'm using to convert: gdalwarp -s_srs EPSG:4326 -t_srs EPSG:3395 -r bilinear N52W133.hgt test.tif

What is going wrong here?
